This is my follow-up review. The previous one (5-starred) was on 9/26/2016.
This review is based on my visit yesterday (6/4/2019). Still the restaurant deserves 5 stars! I noticed that there are no noticeable differences EXCEPT ONE: Foods (including noodles, sukiyaki, and donkatsu) became quite SALTY.
During past 20 years, Ino foods were not that salty. If necessary, I added salt myself. But, now foods are quite salty. Ino chef/cook: PLEASE CONSIDER REDUCING SALT!!! -

INO is an authentic Japanese restaurant with a Japanese owner running the operations. Their fish and quality were very good. Some of the cooked dishes were very unusual for me which is fine, it opened my horizons a little.
Prices are a little high and service can be extremely slow sometimes. I don't know if that's a function of not enough employees during busy period or an excessive attention to detail. -

My kids and I love this place. I have been here like five times and everything was great. They offer authentic Japanese food and I love their Karaage!

This is my 2nd time visiting Ino Japanese Resaturant and BOTH times, I am consistently blown away by the service and food here. This is TRULY a hidden gem in Richardson, TX. I've lived in Richardson basically all my life and I cannot believe it took me over 20 years to discover this lovely place!!!
I cannot speak highly enough about the people, the food, the attention, everyone has there. It's legit when you see a group of elderly Japanese men sit around and just eat and talk and hang out even after the meal. The first time I visited, I remember seeing an elderly grandma (possibly owner's mother/grandmother) sitting at the bar/desk area and just watching her Japanese shows and resting! I absolutely love that its a family business! :)
What we've had over 2 visits:
- We've always ordered the most basic dishes...usually the tonkatsu dinner special. Both times it was cooked to perfection! It was SO crispy and the quality of meat is GREAT and they give you SO much food (2 pieces)! It's enough to feed 2 children or enough for 2 meals...
-curry tonkatsu - equally just as good!! The curry wasn't too overpowering, they give you a lot/enough rice and the curry was so good!! YES THEY DO SERVE THIS DURING DINNER ALSO!!!
-OMURICE: I am an avid watcher of asian dramas and every time I see them eat the omurice, I've always wanted to know what it tastes like. and LET ME TELL YOU, this place doesn't disappoint!!! I know its just egg, rice, curry, ketchup, but for some reason...its SO SO SO GOOD!!! Its a lot of rice though!!! YES THEY DO SERVE THIS DURING DINNER ALSO!!!
-Gyu-Nabe: OMG i've never had anything like this ever! It's sweet and salty, flavorful, they do not skimp on beef! It had layers and layers of beef, cabbage, tofu, noodles..and everything was just a perfect combination!
-grilled mackerel and salmon onigiri for appetizers: again, I cannot speak highly enough of every dish I've had here! Even the salmon onigiri actually had PLENTY of salmon (towards the middle/bottom). The seaweed was crispy and the rice was sticky and did NOT fall apart!
I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for an authentic OG Japanese restaurant in the Richardson area/suburbs. -

I stopped in here last weekend and had the pork tonkatsu and the shrimp tempura. Both were excellent. My favorite part of the meal was the pickled cabbage that they bring to start. That was delicious. I just noticed that they have ramen too. Unsure how I missed that but I'll be back to try it at some point. I'd also come back for the pork tonkatsu as it was the highlight of the main course.
